Pricing & access
Is tarastore really free?
Yes. Every tool - compress, convert, crop, rotate, resize and background removal - is 100% free. There is no paid tier, no trial, and no feature locked behind a subscription.
Do I need an account or email to use it?
No. There is no sign-up and no login. Open any tool and start working immediately.
Are there usage limits or watermarks?
No. There are no daily limits, no file-count caps, and nothing we make is watermarked. Because processing runs on your own device, you are only limited by your device.
How is it free - what is the catch?
There is no catch. tarastore runs entirely in your browser, so there are no server costs for processing your images. We do not sell data because we never collect it.
Privacy & security
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. All processing happens locally in your browser using your device. Your files never leave your computer or phone.
Do you store or see my files?
We cannot - your images are only held in your browser memory for the current session and are released when you load a new file or close the tab. Read our privacy policy for the full detail.
Does it work offline?
Once the page has loaded, the tools keep working even without an internet connection, since nothing is sent to a server.
Formats & conversions
Which image formats are supported?
You can convert between JPG (JPEG), PNG and WebP. Transparency is preserved whenever the target format supports it (PNG and WebP).
How do I convert JPG to WebP (or other formats)?
Use the converter and choose your target format, or go straight to a guided page such as /convert/jpg-to-webp. Drop a file, pick the output format, and download.
Will converting or compressing reduce quality?
Lossy formats (JPG, WebP) let you choose a quality level with a live preview, so you control the balance between size and detail. PNG is lossless. WebP is usually smaller than JPG at the same quality.
Why did my transparent image get a solid background?
JPG does not support transparency, so transparent areas are filled with a background colour when you convert to JPG. Convert to PNG or WebP to keep transparency.

Can I crop to a custom shape or free-form?
Yes. The crop tool supports common aspect ratios (1:1, 4:5, 16:9 and more) as well as free-form cropping by dragging any edge or corner.
How does the background remover work?
It runs an AI model directly in your browser to detect the subject and cut out the background, exporting a transparent PNG or WebP. Like every tool, it uploads nothing.
